GILLASPIE HOUSE MUSEUM

Gillaspie House Museum is a house built in 1906 by newlyweds Dr. Carbon and Grace Gillaspie. Dr. Gillaspie was a local doctor, pharmacist and banker. The family moved after son John was born but continued to use the house in summers. Gillaspie House is now run by the Nederland Area Historical Society and is filled with artifacts, furnishings and clothing from 1900 to about 1950.

BUCYRUS MODEL 50-B

Nederland is home to a 1923 Bucyrus 50B steam shovel whose epic move from the Panama Canal was chronicled on The History Channel's Mega Movers.
 
One of the few remaining, operational, Bucyrus model 50-B still existing, this 1923 steam shovel weighs 130,000 pounds and is rated at 75 tons.
